AppleSeeds (Birth - K)

It's our goal to provide a loving, Christ-centered, safe environment where every child can feel completely welcome, and where every child can learn the basic Bible truths that will be the foundation for their faith for a lifetime.
In a time when raising children is often difficult, it is our goal to help parents lay a foundation of basic Bible truths by guiding and developing the child’s love for God, Jesus, the Bible and their church. We will also provide you with tools and resources you can use as you disciple them at home.

Some of our Preschool activities include:

  • Sunday School at 9:45AM on Sundays.
  • Sunday Extended Session - Teaching & play time during both the 8AM & 11AM services.
  • AWANA - Our program is for 2 year olds in Puggles and through Kindergarten in Cubbies.
  • MomLife - Care & learning that coincides with our MomLife Program on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of every month at 9:00AM.

We also have various times when we offer childcare and the Bible is taught!

We staff our Sunday mornings with the help of parent volunteers and other volunteers from the church. We have a strict placement program that includes background checks, A Safety Training class called "Reducing the Risk", and reference checks. These items in our safety program are repeated every two years.

AppleKids (1st - 5th)

Kids learn who God is, and who they are because of Him! In AppleKids, we teach children how to walk through this life loving God with everything they think, say and do!
It is our goal to partner with parents by providing tools to lead kids to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

Each Sunday morning in AppleKids, we meet together for worship, prayer and small groups. Together we take kids on a Christ-centered, chronological journey through Scripture using LifeWay's Gospel Project for kids. Our grade level classes provide the opportunity to learn at each child's level and develop relationships with friends and teachers. These classes are available at 9:45AM.

At 11:00AM, KidsXtra provides a worship service for kids 1st-4th grade with worship, object lessons, games and life application through themed monthly series.

Family Worship Sundays are on holiday weekends. These Sunday experiences are a great opportunity for children to see their parents worship, respond to Scripture and give. Kids Worship Notes are available in our Children's Lobby to aid kids in following along.

Each summer, AppleKids takes students who have completed 3rd - 5th grades to Ponderosa Campground for an unforgettable experience! Camp sponsors include Applewood staff, Sunday School teachers and parents who have completed Reducing the Risk and have a current background check on file.

At camp, your child's days will be full of learning, new friendships and experiences, worship, fun and growing in Christ! Each day will include team challenges, worship, Bible teaching, church family time, delicious meals and activities like woodworking, hiking, ropes course, rock climbing, cooking, archery, leathercrafting and more!

Security / Reducing the Risk

AppleSeeds & AppleKids are dedicated to providing an environment that is as safe as possible for all children who attend our programs. We use a secure check-in system for all services and events that issues guardian receipts to the adult dropping off the child.

Members of Applewood Baptist Church recognize the need to have formal, written policies and procedures to protect our children and any person working in an Applewood ministry from false accusations or suspicions.

We offer monthly Reducing the Risk classes in order to:

  • Prevent the opportunity for the occurrence and/or appearance of abuse of children.
  • Protect workers from false accusations and/or suspicions. Our policies and procedures are not based on a lack of trust in workers but instead are intended to protect our children, employees, volunteers and the entire church body.

All of our volunteers:

  • have been regularly attending Applewood for 6 months prior to serving in our children's areas
  • are screened and submit to reference checks
  • have background checks current and repeated every two years.
  • go through our Reducing the Risk Training every two years.
