D1 | Discipleship Ministry

Discipleship, as defined in the Bible, is at the heart of what we do at Applewood Baptist Church.

D1 - Laying the Foundation

One of our core values is ‘Intentional Discipleship’.  In the Bible, our Lord Jesus not only instructed us in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8) to 'go and make disciples' but also 'modeled' discipleship throughout the gospels. Therefore, we are committed to 'intentionally' discipling Christians within our church! Our desire is that everyone at Applewood be discipled!

The foundation of our discipleship ministry is a doctrinally sound, systematic 16-week course of classes which we call "D1". It is important to note that the D1 discipleship classes are not the basics of Christianity but rather a strong, doctrinally sound foundation written to the church, the Bride of Christ. This foundation 'properly equips' a born-again believer to go out and make dsiciples, equips them for work in the varioous ministries at Applewood, and continues their growth to be conformed to the image of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many that have completed this class have commented on how it has changed their lives!

Our next class begins on Monday, March 28 from 6:30-8:00PM and is led by Pastor Derek and Pastor Rich. The class is FREE and childcare is provided.

D2 – Bible Classes ...

Building Upon the Foundation

D1 builds a doctrinally sound foundation. D2 classes build upon that foundation. D2 can range from classes on specific biblical topics, classes on bible-based ministry training, as well as bible-based classes for continued growth in specific areas of our lives.

D3 – Ministry Training for Future Pastor/Elders

This ministry is a two-year, intensive training program for men possibly called to Eldership. The men that attend this ministry training program are selected by existing Pastor/Elders. These men will be equipped in areas such as biblical teaching of sound doctrine, as well as practical shepherding and leadership skills.

Forge Men

At the Applewood Forge Men's Ministry, we want to engage men and encourage them to live as "Pastor Dads"! Obedient and faithful servants and stewards - every day. Through Bible studies, fellowship, prayer, ministry projects, small groups, and events, men have the opportunity to be shaped, sharpened, and serve as Kingdom men. Every man who is connected to Applewood is a part of Men in Ministry - the goal is to have every man be an active part!

The first Saturday of every month, join us for our 3G's Men's Breakfast in the Fellowship Hall at 7AM. Great food, fellowship with brothers, a devotional, and you will be out by 8AM!

Every Man A Warrior deals with the problems men confront every day. No man wants to fail, but few men feel equipped to fight the battles they face in life. Every Man A Warrior gives men the tools necessary to win these battles-- to succeed in life. The first nine lessons of EVERY MAN A WARRIOR develop the essential skills of discipleship. These skills include: Having a Quiet Time, Meditating on Scripture, Prayer, and Application of the Word.

Men's Bible Study meets Tuesdays, 6:30-8PM in the Fellowship Hall. The cost of the study is $15.

Revive Women

Our Women’s Ministry exists for reaching, teaching, and ministering to the women of our church and community. Our goal is that women will come to faith, maturity, and service through a relationship with God, His Word, and each other. There are many distractions in life. Our theme verse calls us to turn our attention to things of worth: "Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me according to your way.” Psalm 119:37

Our Bible studies, programs, and events are planned with your needs in mind. Your heart will be inspired, your life enriched, and your relationships strengthened, especially your relationship with the Lord. Our hope is that you will experience the activity of the Lord in your life, and be a part of the great things ahead that He has planned for each of us. Come along with us and let’s walk together to get closer to Him.
